Steve’s Croyde to Kirkwall Cycle Ride

Steve Griggs is cycling 1,000 miles (ish!) for: PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide because Suicide is the leading cause of death for u35s.

I believe this is relevant for young people and families who live in the parish and elsewhere. In two weeks today Wed 26th July I shall be cycling from Croyde to Kirkwall in Orkney. I am trying to raise funds and awareness for the Papyrus – Prevention of Young Suicide charity. Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in the United Kingdom.

For further information please see my Just Giving Page

We exist to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behavior.

JustGiving is the world’s most trusted platform for online giving. Our mission is to ensure no great cause goes unfunded. We are enormously proud to have helped people in 164 countries raise over $4.5 billion for good causes since we were founded in 2001.

Letter Below from Rachel Walker
Senior Engineer (Special Projects)
Engineering Design Group – Devon County Council

Good morning
I am emailing you to give you advanced notice that Devon County Council will be holding a Public Consultation on the North Devon Link Road (NDLR).

The NDLR is inadequate in performing its multiple functions of a strategic transport link, local route and focus for economic growth.
Devon County Council is consulting on a scheme to improve the section of the NDLR between Borner’s Bridge Junction on the A361 north of South Molton and Heywood Road Roundabout on the A39 north of Bideford to help inform further design work and develop a preferred option.

The potential improvements to the NDLR aim to be the catalyst to facilitate a higher level of economic development by driving forward an ambitious growth strategy for the area as set out in the Local Plan. The scheme will be a substantial improvement to the existing road and address several issues already prevalent along the route.

The Public Consultation will run from the 9th June, 2017 and last for 7 weeks until 28th July, 2017. Public Consultation exhibitions are being held at the following locations to provide information about the preliminary design option for improving this section of the NDLR and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions.

  • Green Lanes (Barnstaple)
  • Town Hall (Bideford)
  • Amory Centre (South Molton)
  • Unmanned Exhibition – Bideford Room – Taw View, Barnstaple

Due to the need to meet the government’s timetable for submission of the funding bid there is a 7-week period for your consideration of the proposals and response. Consequently we are providing advance notice of this in the anticipation that you can meet this deadline. If you see this as a problem please let me know as soon as possible.
I have also attached a poster advertising the exhibitions, which I would be grateful if you could display on your public noticeboards.

Kind regards

Rachel

Meet The Royal Marines in Braunton and Croyde

On the 24th April a team of Royal Marines commenced running 16.64 miles every day for in 100 days.

On the 21st May they will be supported by Royal Marines from Commando Logs Regiment leaving RMB Chivenor at 10:00 and passing through Braunton at 10:15 and Croyde at 11:00 carrying on route to Ilfracombe.

WHY?? The fallout from recent and past conflicts has left a growing need to support those Royal Marines who have had life changing injuries both physical and mental and the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The purpose of this site is to provide an accessible central reference point for all Parish Council decisions and notices that parishioners are entitled to know about.
